My supervision approach is collaborative, with a strong emphasis on scientific rigor, critical thinking, and personal development. I strive to create a supportive environment where students can grow as independent scientists. My core expertise includes <strong>electrophysiological recordings<\/strong> (EEG, fNIRS, sEEG, LFP, and Neuropixels recordings), <strong>spike sorting<\/strong>, <strong>neural signal processing<\/strong>, and <strong>brain-machine interfaces<\/strong>. Related fields I am experienced in include <strong>clinical neurophysiology, systems neuroscience, cognitive neurotechnology, signal analysis, and brain-computer interfacing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full has-custom-border wp-duotone-midnight-filter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/neuromajik.com\/En\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Supervision.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-154\" style=\"border-top-left-radius:150px;border-bottom-right-radius:150px;object-fit:cover\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group alignfull is-style-section-3 has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained is-style-section-3--2\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PhDs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"justify-text wp-block-paragraph\">I am not (yet) a full professor or a faculty member, but I actively serve as a <strong>co-promoter, advisor, or external supervisor<\/strong> on doctoral projects. At this stage, I can only accept PhD students who are officially enrolled with a main supervisor at their host institution. My involvement includes providing expertise, mentoring, and collaboration within the project framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Currently, I only accept PhD projects in the following areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"justify-text\"><strong>Disorders of Consciousness<\/strong>, including coma, unresponsive wakefulness syndrome, and minimally conscious state.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"justify-text\"><strong>Altered States of Consciousness,<\/strong> namely anesthesia studies, using electrophysiological recordings. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"justify-text\"><strong>Neurofeedback and Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCI)<\/strong> for neurorehabilitation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For PhD students, we will follow a structured supervision plan:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Initial proposal<\/strong>: Applicants must submit a <strong>2-page research idea draft (similar to a Thesis Submission Proposal &#8211; TSP)<\/strong> as a first step.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kick-off meeting<\/strong>: An in-depth discussion to refine goals and define the project scope.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Regular supervision<\/strong>: Bi-weekly (every two weeks) meetings to track progress, troubleshoot issues, and guide development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Milestone reviews<\/strong>: Formal project updates every 6 months.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The maximum number of PhD students I supervise simultaneously is <strong>1<\/strong> to ensure high-quality mentoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group alignfull is-style-section-1 has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained is-style-section-1--3\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Master&#8217;s Students<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"justify-text wp-block-paragraph\">I am more flexible with Master\u2019s students and welcome applications on a broader range of topics. Besides my core areas (altered states of consciousness, disorders of consciousness, anesthesia, neurofeedback, BCI, neurorehabilitation), I also encourage projects exploring:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list justify-text\">\n<li><strong>Psychology and cognitive neuroscience applications<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Computational sociology and social simulation<\/strong>, including multi-agent modeling and cognitive architectures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"justify-text wp-block-paragraph\">I require Master\u2019s students to commit a <strong>minimum of 20 hours per week for a continuous period of 6 months<\/strong>. I fully understand the academic pressures students face, but this time commitment is essential for producing meaningful and successful research outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"justify-text wp-block-paragraph\">Master\u2019s students are strongly encouraged to aim for <strong>publication-level quality<\/strong>, ideally drafting a manuscript for submission to a scientific journal. Engaging in the full research cycle\u2014from hypothesis formulation and data collection to analysis and dissemination\u2014greatly enhances both learning and career development.
